Various states are modifying their entry requirements for New Mexico cattle in response to our recent status change. As we are notified by any given state of requirements specific to us, we are updating the list below. Of course you should always check with your state of destination before shipping to be be sure you have the latest and best information. We have compiled contact information on all 50 states to assist you in that.

  1. Beef steers/spayed heifers moving to:
    1. Approved feedlots require a CVI OR NMLB Form 1. If ≥ 18 months of age they must be moved under a Form 1-27 if not from farm of origin. TB-exposed animals must have negative TB test, be "S" branded and be shipped under a Form 1-27.
    2. Pasture require a CVI or NMLB Form 1.
    3. Non-approved feedlots require a CVI, NMLB Form 1 or waybill.
    4. Market require a CVI, NMLB Form 1 or waybill. If shipped direct to market by owner, no CVI is required.
    5. Slaughter require a CVI, NMLB Form 1, waybill, or if ≥ 18 months a Form 1-27 not from farm of origin. Owner may ship direct to slaughter from farm of origin with an NMLB Form 1. In this case no CVI is required. There must be no diversion of animals from the shipment.
  2. Beef sexually intact males moving to:
    1. Approved feedlots require official ID. If < 18 months of age they require a CVI or NMLB Form 1. If ≥ 18 months they require a Form 1-27 if not from farm of origin. TB-exposed animals must have negative TB test, be "S" branded and be shipped under a Form 1-27.
    2. Pasture require a negative TB test within 60 days of entry unless they originate from an accredited herd or are nursing a negative dam. If < 18 months a CVI or NMLB Form 1 is required. If ≥ 18 months a CVI is required.
    3. Non-approved feedlots require official ID. They must have a TB test within 60 days of entry unless they originate from an accredited herd or are nursing a negative dam. If < 18 months of age they require a CVI or NMLB Form 1. If ≥ 18 months they require a CVI or waybill.
    4. Market require official ID. They must have a TB test within 60 days of entry unless they originate from an accredited herd or are nursing a negative dam. They must have a waybill, or if < 18 months a CVI or NMLB Form 1, or if ≥ 18 months a CVI. If shipped direct to market from ranch by owner no CVI is required.
    5. Slaughter require official ID, and a CVI, NMLB Form 1 or waybill if < 18 months. If ≥ 18 months they must be shipped under a Form 1-27 if not from farm of origin. An owner may ship direct from farm of origin to slaughter under an NMLB Form 1. In this case no CVI is required. There must be no diversion of animals from the shipment.

    2. Pasture require official ID, a CVI and if ≥ 2 months a negative TB test within 60 days of entry unless they originate from an accredited herd. Individuals < 2 months require an entry permit.
    3. Non-approved feedlots official ID, a CVI and if ≥ 2 months a negative TB test within 60 days of entry unless they originate from an accredited herd. Individuals < 2 months require an entry permit.
    4. Market require official ID, a CVI, an entry permit and a negative TB test within 60 days of entry unless they originate from an accredited herd. Animals < 2 months of age are not allowed into markets unless accompanied by a negative dam.
    5. Slaughter require official ID and a CVI. An owner may ship direct from farm of origin to slaughter under an NMLB Form 1. In this case no CVI is required. There must be no diversion of animals from the shipment.
